Important Notice: Two-Factor Authentication for Taxpayers
Dear Taxpayers,
1. GSTN is implementing two-factor authentication (2FA) to enhance login security on the GST portal. The pilot rollout in Haryana has been successful, and now 2FA will be introduced in the first phase for Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Delhi. The second phase aims to extend this feature to all states across India.
2. Taxpayers will now be required to enter a one-time password (OTP) after providing their user ID and password. The OTP will be sent to the Primary Authorized Signatory's mobile number and email ID.
3. Taxpayers are urged to ensure that the email and mobile number of the authorized signatory are up-to-date on the GST Portal to receive OTP communications. The OTP will only be requested if the taxpayer changes the system (desktop, laptop, or browser) and location.
4. This new security measure will be implemented starting December 1, 2023.
